Florida Rep Announces Acting Classes for All Ages

Florida Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce that enrollment is now open for its popular, Monday evening Winter Class Sessions.

The first of two sessions begins Jan. 18th and runs through Feb. 22nd, and the second runs Mar. 1st to Apr. 5th. Each class session features three different acting classes designed for children of all ages, as well as two class options for adults ages 14 and up.

Act Up Florida Rep

Held on Monday evenings in the Florida Rep Studio Theatre, these popular calsses for youth & adults are taught by Florida Rep staff members, guest artists and other area theatre professionals, and bring the craft of theatre to the community in fun, creative and informative ways.

Winter Class Session One
January 18 - February 22


Playmakers for Ages 4 to 7
Students in this class make their own show! Beginning with character creation and story-telling, students will develop their show while gaining an understanding of teamwork and performance techniques in this fun outlet. This class will end in a small performance for their friends and families on the final day of class.

BIZ-ness of the Biz for Ages 8 to 17
Succeed in drama clubs and beyond with this class taught by Florida Rep Education and Camp Director, Rachael Endrizzi. Covering everything from preparing auditions to creating a resume and headshots, students learn what show business REALLY is and how to shine in school, community theatre and even college entry auditions. Class will culminate in a mock audition open to area theatre professionals.

Adult Acting: Audition Techniques for Ages 15 and up.
This class is intensive training for students of all experience levels. This class is taught by professional actor Brendan Powers, seen onstage at Florida Rep in Boeing-Boeing, Dial 'M' for Murder, Doubt and the Rep's 2009 nationally acclaimed production of Dancing at Lughnasa.In this unique class, students will workshop monologues and scenes to learn the secrets of good auditions.

Winter Class Session Two
March 1 to April 5


Motion Explosion for Ages 4 to 7
Kids can explore their fun side through creative movement and expression with this course. Using games and exercises on focusing energy, building confidence and teamwork, students learn building blocks of theatre while cooperating and stretching their imaginations.

Theatre Dance for Ages 8 to 14
Florida Rep is excited to offer an all-new class on dance! Students with no experience can gain control in dance auditions and have fun learning ballet, jazz and tap basics as well as steps that are the building blocks of most audition routines set to fun songs from musical theatre.

Creating a Character for Ages 14 and up.
This class will dive into the world of character development and more advanced performance technique. Using in-depth scene study and script analysis, students in this class will stretch their ability to the max and discover new ways to use their mind, body and voice to transform for any role!
