The lottery is offering five grand prizes, including a $1 million cash prize in celebration of the 15th year, in addition to three stunning showhomes in Calgary, Sylvan Lake and Lethbridge. The fifth prize is a ‘Home Away from Home’ truck and fifth wheel worth $121,000.
There are also two exceptional early bird packages to be won including a ‘His and Hers’ Mercedes-Benz package worth over $110,000 retail and a 2008 Hummer H3, Las Vegas vacation for four plus $10,000 cash prize. In addition to the grand and early bird prizes, there are 14 vehicles, 41 vacations, 2023 electronic prizes, 277 cash prizes and 645 other prizes including jewellery and luggage.
“As a charity, STARS relies on the Lottery as our largest fundraiser,” said STARS President and CEO Dr. Greg Powell. “It is with deep thanks that we are now celebrating our 15th year of the lottery which has provided the support to help save many lives.”
STARS provides airborne intensive care to the critically ill and injured 24 hours a day, seven days a week with five familiar red BK117 helicopters from bases in Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie. STARS has flown over 15,500 missions since 1985 and currently serves 94 per cent of Alberta’s population.
Ticket buyers are eligible for all 3,033 prize draws provided they purchase before any draw deadline. After each draw, winning tickets go back into the drum for the next prize draw. There are 50,000 single tickets for sale, 100,000 sets of five for $100 and 18,500 sets of 15 for $250 for a total of 827,500 tickets.
“While the lottery will help fund the operational costs associated with the upcoming new AW139 helicopter, a portion of the Lottery proceeds will continue to go into the STARS Chain of Survival Program to help STARS’ emergency services partners with their medical equipment and training needs,” says Phil Levson, vice-president, STARS Foundation.
The early bird draw is March 28, with ticket sales cut off March 13 at midnight. The final draw is set for April 23, with ticket cutoff at midnight on April 8. If tickets sell out early, all prizes will be drawn on March 28 with permission from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. The lottery license number is 256202.
