The event will be held from 4:30pm to 6:30pm that afternoon at the Arts for ACT Gallery adjacent to the Arcade Theatre on First St. There are two performances of Breaking Legs on Saturday at 2pm and 8pm, as well as two performances on Sunday the 30th at 2pm and 7pm, so cocktail party guests will have ample opportunity to see the play over the weekend.
"You can either see the play and then discuss it with Mr. Dulack," said Director of Audience Development, Rachel Burttram, "or discuss first and see the play after. It is our way of allowing you to decide how best to enhance your theatre-going experience."
Breaking Legs had a successful run at the Historic Arcade Theatre in 1999 as part of Florida Rep's Inaugural Season, and marks the theatre's first revival. "It was an amazing first season," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "but the one play that always stood out for me was Breaking Legs."
Breaking Legs is the hysterical story of a hapless college professor who unwittingly has his play produced by the Mafia - falling in love in the process. The production stars Brendan Powers (Doubt) as the professor, and Florida Rep newcomer, Diana Buirski as the head-strong daughter-of-the-mob.
Also featured in the ensemble cast are Mark Chambers and Bob Del Pazzo, both last seen in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and local actor J. Mitchell Haley (Fools, I'm Not Rappaport), another familiar face at Florida Rep. Chambers has appeared in such plays as The Rainmaker, Enchanted April and Rounding Third, while Del Pazzo is new this season after having appeared in Forum.
The cast also includes John Felix (Greetings!, Moon Over Buffalo), who has been a member of the Florida Rep ensemble since season one, and is the only cast member reprising his role from the 1999 production.
Florida Rep Producing Artisitc Director, Robert Cacioppo directs, and is joined by an expert team of designers including lighting designer, Todd O. Wren (Doubt), set designer, Sean McClelland (Moon Over Buffalo), resident costumer, Roberta Malcolm and resident sound designer, Eric Watkins.
Breaking Legs by Tom Dulack plays at Florida Rep from March 28 through April 20. Performances are Tues. – Sat. at 8pm, with 2pm matinees on Wed., Sun. and selected Saturdays with a Twilight Performance at 7pm on Sunday, March 30.
