CleanPix takes the leap toward green energy...

...a "wind-wind" situation. CleanPix Corporation joins Bullfrog Power Inc in its quest for environmentally sound practices. As of February 2008, all of the electrical power used by CleanPix head office is supplied from local wind farms, bypassing sources of fossil-fuel or bio-fuel power generation altogether. CleanPix is now proudly 100% wind powered. Electricity generation is a leading industrial source of carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas linked to climate change, as well as other emissions that contribute to poor air quality.

For CleanPix, choosing green power is a practical and meaningful way to reduce our environmental impact and assist in the protection of pristine destinations. The CleanPix customer base includes many hospitality/tourism world venues, where sensitivity to global environmental issues is paramount. CleanPix selected wind-powered energy because it addresses both GLOBAL WARMING and GLOBAL DIMMING. In the last 5 decades, North America has recorded a 10% loss of sunlight on the earth's surface due to man-made air-borne dust particles. CleanPix Corporation's objective was to select an energy plan that not only reduces dust particles in the atmosphere, but also reduces proportionally the adverse effects of chemical erosion of the global envelope. The latter is undeniably a contributing factor in global warming. Wind power generation addresses both problems simultaneously so that, after we clear the air, we won't get burnt by the sun. It is that simple. BBC article on global dimming and please see this video:

At CleanPix we are sensitive to the need for the preservation of natural products such as oil. Oil is needed now and for future generations in the production of plastics, polymers of all types, glues, fertilizers among others and some goods yet to be invented. While they are still available, it appears to be smart to move away from over-stressing non-renewable world resources.

Beyond mere aesthetic concerns about wind turbine farms, at CleanPix we are aware of the extra costs and compromises we face in choosing 100% wind-powered electrical energy. We have considered the options not only in sourcing green energy suppliers, but also best practices to reduce our existing electrical energy demand. To offset the increase in our electric bill, CleanPix is updating its computer servers to less energy-devouring machines. We are replacing 6 linear feet of older servers by a single foot of new Xserve computers. Not only does this new server farm require far less AC to "keep its cool", but it also exceeds the 80 percent efficiency guidelines in the current Energy Star computer system recommendations. In this manner we strike the ultimate balance of enhancing performance and energy efficiency as well as simultaneously reducing considerably our demand for electrical energy.

In 2007, the prestigious New York-based SNCR communications organization awarded CleanPix, in the innovation technology category, for fostering environmentally sound practices with its customers and users. For CleanPix this is a "wind-wind" proposition and we can attest that eco-friendly practices are financially viable. We made the leap to a greener approach to business beyond mere words. We have to thank the visionaries of Bullfrog Power Inc. for making green power available to CleanPix ... at the flip of a switch.

Environmental benefits

The CleanPix PR/marketing service allows its users to circumvent altogether the need for burning disks, distributing hundreds of flash drives, creating packaging and sending expensive, fuel-burning couriers - all detrimental to eco-friendly practices. It makes more sense to manage digital files digitally.

In addition, with the shift to 100% windpower for its electrical needs, CleanPix's annual emissions footprint reduction is:

35.9 mt Carbon dioxide
60.2 kgs Nitric oxide
91.5 kgs Sul. dioxide
